Logo & Visual Identity Design

I freelanced as a graphic designer for 9 years, and it still tickles me to see my logos in the wild; many of them have taken on a life of their own.

Case Study

In 2017, I worked with Carnegie Mellon Advising Resource Center to create a logo for their First Gen initiative, supporting first generation CMU students. Here’s my process if you’re curious.

Define

The Carnegie Mellon University Advising Resource Center asked me to design their initiative for first generation students. My first step was to define the demographic I would be representing through my visual identity.

Discover

The second step was to begin interviewing first generation kids at Carnegie Mellon to better understand their demographic.

Develop

After several pages of sketching, I presented the clients with four low-fidelity concepts with from they could choose and revise.

Deliver

After iterating on the chosen logo in Adobe Illustrator, and incorporating the CMU color palette and typeface, the last step was to present the design to the client, using Illustrator files, mockups, and a style guide.
